lol, I used to ALWAYS be ill over the winter holiday---seems my systems never wanted to miss school, so as soon as the holiday hit BAM! fever, chills, whatever was running around that year--I got ....never missed school for it, but spent many a holiday in bed sleeping.
even had chicken pox over easter! now THAT'S timing! lol.....
its sucks to be sick when everyone is having a good time and there is lots to be done and seen---hope you feel better (and toss anything in your freezer with a date before 2011!)

I try to avoid being sick over any breaks. Though as my fiancee likes to point out, I don't get sick that often. And I try to avoid getting sick by trying to be healthy. Doesn't always work though. Though when I am sick, I try to continue my normal routine as to not let it affect me much.

I try to avoid being sick too....but ....sometimes you--- it just cant be avoided (now remember I grew up in a time before those zicam and zinc blockers stuff).
Now, if I get sick it floors me--no doing 'normal' rountine when you can barely stand and have a fever over 100! (stiff upper lip only gets you so far---)
well, the usps decided I should actually get mail today---since the last few days of last week I got ONE piece of junk mail each day...today a full stack of (yes) junk mail, packages and such....seems they have already gone to the one-day a week delivery here!

I don't use zicam or zinc blockers. I just take multivitamins and try not to take unnecessary risks.
I usually get floored once a year by a cold or something. Never fails. At least once a year.
I went to the post-office today expect the normal junk. But nope. Post Office wasn't open yesterday and apparently they didn't have time put the junk in today before I was there. Oh well.

i take multivitamins and eat (kinda) well, i just get sick from not being sick, my immune system is so strong its just like..."you know what, lets just get everything at once and get it over with"...then im fine for 11months.
you wont have to worry about junk mail much longer, soon youll just have to clear your spam box. WTB US Postal Service? cause no one else does...

I care about the usps ...how else do you get your packages??? pay 4x the price to ups or 10x the price to fed ex???? and then NOT have the option to pick them up on weekends when you are not working (since ups is only availble m-f 9-6pm...and in a town 45minute drive from you home).
last fed ex package I got the lady ROLLED to my door--it didnt break but then she REFUSED to pick it up (geesh it only weighed 40lbs)....even with 2 slipped disks in my back I can lift and carry 40lbs (about the weight of say a 3 or 4 year old kid???)....wont be using them again EVER!
I will keep the us postal system thank you, its the bumpkins in the government who have messed it up to the point of ....well, where it is today, and after you look at our current economy do you wonder they can NOT manage the usps????
sorry about the political tinge on that...but.....I do like to get packages and my other options are worse than the usps.

I don't mind USPS at all. They do a pretty good job. And yes, they do seem to cost less than Fedex and UPS.
Anyone seen the video of the FedEx guy throwing the monitor? That is what is wrong with some FedEx drivers. They don't care about what they do. They do it to get a paycheck and be done. Not cool.

hey azzer glad to see you around again, hope you are feeling better. I kind of have a love hate relationship with the Post Office. This is a true story. Last Winter written on one of our delivered envelopes was the message "poop in walkway". Well apparently someone walking there dog let them use our front walkway and it bothered the mailman. The next time my wife saw him she gave him a sound tongue lashing and told him to step over it. (We have a fenced back yards and our dogs were never out front)

lol Wow. At least they didn't like piss on your mail or tear it up and throw it in the front yard or anything. That would have been even worse. But still, some people just can't figure out how to not aggravate other people.

nice to see you again azzer!
yeah I have that same type of relations with my post office, though I know my pmg by first name (and I think she knows my voice ).....though after a few years of yelling, screaming and general unhappiness with them--they are the most reliable right now, they will NOT leave a package for me--they MUST give it to me (or hubby) or leave a pick-up note, otherwise its a 3 day suspension! (yeah one guy did get that)....so if I am not around usps is the best (only) choice for me---I live across the street (sorta) from a high school and on a dead end cul-de-sac....peeps like to walk on our road instead of the nice new sidewalk up by the 4 lane road (2 each way)....so stuff left on the doorstoop ....disappears!
ups and fed-ex dont care where you live, if the sender doesnt request (require) a signature, they will leave ANYTHING on the door stoop---even air plane tickets (happened to me in 2007---good thing I was not far behind the idiots)!!!!
and since my hubby does computer stuff, we do get parts in the mail (can you imagine a 1 terrabyte drive disappearing from your door?????)....so having someone home to get them when the idiot shipper decides that a signature is NOT required..IS required!!

Ya, I am always nervous about my stuff disappearing since they just kinda leave it out in the open. But not much I can do about it as Amazon only really ships UPS. Though they do a good job of slipping smaller stuff between my outer and inner door. So that is good at least. But ya, I've been lucky so far. And my 1 terabyte drive didn't disappear.
Welp, going up to the fiances tomorrow. 3 hour drive. Ohhhh boy.

I dont use amazon anymore....(unless its a single book which they send by media snail mail).....had more issues with them shipping stuff and having OTHERS sign for it saying I SIGNED for it (when I wasnt even home!!)...BAD shipping choices=no longer a customer.
had some yeast left over so I made a cardamom bread today ---I LOVE <3 cardamom!! (my swedish genes are showing)....though even though I multiplied the amount of cardamom I couldnt taste it
man, cant believe its almost 2012....

I don't worry about if they leave a package out as if it is taken they are responsible, if they leave it without your authority. Well, I think I am making Pea Soup this weekend as I have the hambone and I might as well put it to good use.

I am cleaning out the fridge...so its meatloaf (which I LOVE)...bison with some nice blue cheese and some leftover bread (now crumbs--sorry fiep).....smelllllllssss awesome!
(no, shippers WONT take responsibility--so I always use a cc when I make purchases from places that wont ship the way I request--with the cc I can do a dispute and always win).
and there's the bell---time for dinner!!

that sounds like a shitty postthingy you guys have, here it's like this
You order a package, you're home, you sign it, you're not home, the mailman takes it back to the post office and leaves a note for you that you received a package, and that you need to go pick it up within 7 days.
It never dissapears

We live in America. Land of the free and the lazy. Many people get upset when they have to go drive elsewhere to pick up their package instead of having it waiting for them. Others see it is a liability. Depends on where you live here really. If you live in the middle of no where, chances of it getting jacked are pretty slim. But if you live in a highly populated area, your chances go way up.
Almost 2012? Geez...

down to hours now....wow.
yeah, if you live in some places (like I DO--across from a high school) leaving stuff in front of the door is an invation to take it. .....where I lived as a kid? I think they could have left money on the door stoop and it would have been there. (not to mention that was 40+ years ago---times were very very VERY different then).
look at it this way---
when I was a kid, I walked to school--no one DROVE me to my grade school, in jh/hs--no one DROVE me to my bus stop...we walked and never even thought about someone snatching us.
today...my sister DRIVES her son the 2 blocks (yes 2 blocks) to his bus stop, and waits until he get on (uhm, yeah-why not just drive him to the blinkin' school????).
though I must say: my mom never had a drivers license, we only had the car my dad took to work until sometime in jh, my mom never got up with us in the morning either--we made our own breakfast and lunches (brown bag it even now!!).
yep lots different.
so if you think about it, we dont trust anything these days....not like 40 years ago
ok, now I am depressed.....anyone got some cookies?????

sigh
it wasnt a far walk (my grade school was 4 BLOCKS from my house)...the bus stop was about maybe one whole block (jh) and a wee bit farther in a different direction (hs)... (the schools themselves were about 2 miles and 1 1/2 miles away, respectively).
I did have to walk home once from jh--took a very long time and boy, my mom was pissed!! (had an after school whatever and my dad couldnt get me)...had another time in jh that the bus driver kicked more than half of the kids off the bus and made them walk--that was fun! Walked quite a few times to and from hs--usually with my saxophone....and if I walked home from school right after classes were over, I would make it home before the bus got to my stop (we had a 40 minute wait after school before the bus got us)....stupid system--only took that bus for 2 years, kids were awful (we shared a grade school bus--with only about 8 hs kids on it...by junior year most of us had 'alternate' ways to get to school). It was from those horrible kids I got chicken pox my freshman year....parents, DONT send your kids to school with CHICKEN POX!!!
and I am not a fan of mint either...but thanks for the offer.
